Rotten Trick

My husband did a rotten thing the other day. But, I couldn’t be mad at him because boy did he teach me a lesson! A lesson that I thought I already knew. To make a long story short, I forgot something in the car. My husband went back to get it. I had Camille with me. We were waiting in line, she was right next to me. We got to the ticket window, I took out my wallet to pay, and my attention off of her for just a second. I looked and she wasn’t next to me anymore. I turned around and yelled her name. I felt like I was in slow motion, my was heart racing. I looked the other way, there she was, my husband had come back and he got her away from me without me noticing. It was only a matter of a seconds. Apparently my husband, a police officer, realizes more than I did how quickly something bad can happen. He was testing me. I failed. You can bet it won’t happen again. I’m so thankful it was only a test.

My Valentine

There are no more secrets in our house! I already suspected that my husband hadn’t finished his Valentine’s Day shopping with just hours to go. Then my little Camille confirmed it. The two of them called me at work, I asked her what she and Daddy were doing. Her answer was priceless! Me and Daddy are going to buy you flowers, cookies and presents. I could hear my husband gasp in the background. I had to laugh, she is so innocent True to her word, there were flowers, cookies and presents waiting this morning. But, do you know what? My family is the only gift I really need! I hope you had a nice day!

If You Give A Cat A Cupcake…

Have you heard of the book “If You Give a Cat a Cupcake?” It is a very cute book! I read it to some children at All Saints of St. John Vianney School last week in Wickliffe. It was family reading night at the school and they asked me to be part of it.

I’ve been reading to Camille since I was pregnant. I think it is important that kids be exposed to books early and often so I was very happy to take part in the family reading night. Because if was a family night, I brought along Camille and my husband. Camille had a great time. The school had a very nice program. After the story each child decorated a cupcake and of course ate it. The night was very cute. Thanks for including us

A Common Problem

I’ve blogged about this before.. the problem of what’s for dinner? I’m not the cook in our house, my husband is the head chef , but I have been using the crock pot a little more often. Now, I need ideas.. Do any of you seasoned cooks have any crock pot recipes that are kid tested, mother approved? I would love to hear them!

How Stupid

My little Camille has turned into a little mocking-bird! And the more we laugh, the more she does it.

Here’s an example… picture this. Last week, when we had all of that snow, we were walking into a store. I’m carrying her, walking in slush, and trying to keep the wet snow from hitting us in the face. The parking lot was not very crowded, when all of a sudden a guy in a pick up truck, in need of a new muffler, decided to do “donuts” ! He was doing this right near us, I under my breath, mumbled ” how stupid”. Well, she heard me. Today, we had to tell her everything is not stupid! We all learned a lesson, including me, but it could have been soooo much worse

I’m sure that I am not the only mother who feels like I spend way too much time in my car! Sometimes, I feel like I live in it and it is beginning to look that way too. Between work, running errands, and everything else that comes along with daily life… the inside of my car is a mess!!

I have clothes, boots, and hats for work. I have kids stuff to keep Camille amused on long trips. It’s too cold to spend any time cleaning it out, so it just keeps piling up! I was looking for something today, I never did find it, but I found smashed cheerios, one of Camille’s missing socks, and broken crayons!

The weather department says there will be a warm up this week.. I know what I’ll be doing ! I can’t take it anymore

Happy New Year! I can’t believe it’s a new decade already. Weren’t we just celebrating 2000? I hope you all had a wonderful holiday season

Now that the holidays are over, our decorations are packed away for another year. However, our house is not yet back to normal. I decided that I would organize Camille’s room. She decided she would help me. I folded her clothes, she unfolded them. I hung the clothes in the closet, she took them out. You get the picture What should have taken just a couple of hours ended up taking the better part of the day. But, do you know what? I didn’t mind

The Unexpected

Last year, Camille was not happy to be sitting on Santa’s lap. In fact, she screamed at the top of her lungs. So, I wasn’t really sure what to expect this year!

We saw Santa and Mrs. Claus a couple of weeks ago. Camille would only sit on Santa’s lap with me. So we did, both of us on Santa’s lap, you can imagine that picture Since then, we ‘ve been asking her if she wants to visit him. The answer has been “no, not today, maybe tomorrow.” Well, the last time we asked, she said she wanted to see him. So off we went. As we stood in line, she watched one kid after another crawl up into the Jolly Old Elf’s lap. It was soon our turn. She tightened the grip around my neck, but she let me put her on his lap.

As you can see from the picture, she didn’t cry, but she wasn’t completely happy to be perched on Santa’s lap. I got a half-smile, but hey, I’ll take what I can get. I got my picture

Checking The List

How is your list of things to do coming this holiday season? Did you make the most of the weekend? It seems like December is just flying, we’re just 11 days away from Christmas. I am slowly but surely checking off my list of things to do. Every year, I make chocolate covered oreos and pretzels. The first batch is done. The problem is, when I get them done too early they seem to disappear! This year, Camille helped me put the sprinkles on the cookies and pretzels. She loved it and didn’t do a bad job for a 2 year old. Although, I think there were more sprinkles on the kitchen floor than on the treats! Oh, well … Oliver got a treat too
